A quick update on my Open Letter to Members of Parliament regarding federal representation in Nunavut.
Today I received a response from the office of Philip Lawrence, Conservative MP for Northumberland—Clarke, Ontario.
Back in 2021, when Nunavut’s MP had stepped away for health reasons, MP Lawrence publicly offered assistance to Nunavut residents despite representing a riding thousands of kilometres away. Following my recent letter, he has once again indicated that his office is willing to help.
I said this in 2021 and I’ll say it again, to me, this is what leadership and public service are supposed to look like.
Simply recognizing that Canadians sometimes need help, and being willing to answer the call even if they live on the other side of the country.
I appreciate MP Lawrence and his staff taking the time to respond and for recognizing that some Nunavummiut may not feel comfortable reaching out to our local MP’s office.
I’ve attached both my open letter above and the response from his office below for anyone interested in reading them.

For Nunavummiut who don’t feel comfortable seeking assistance from our local MPs office with a federal matter, MP Lawrence’s office can be reached at:

Constituency Office: 905-372-8757
Ottawa Office: 613-992-8585
Thank you so much to MP Lawrence and his staff for demonstrating that service to Canadians doesn’t stop at constituency boundaries.
Kenny Bell, life long northerner.
